What you need to know before buying a photography franchise
Q: Why is SRP the best Photography Franchise?
A: We will always treat you like family and we only make money after your sales take place — not by printing portraits that you may (or may not) sell. We will give you the tools, training, and guidance to build a lasting successful business creating beautiful authentic portraits that today’s professional moms and dads can’t get on their own. That’s why Spoiled Rotten Photography is the best photography franchise available.
Q: Is photography experience required to become a Spoiled Rotten Photography franchise owner?
A: Absolutely not. Everyone brings their own unique talents to the table. Some of our franchise owners have a great head for business, others are a whiz at marketing, but all have an appreciation for the art of photography and a love for kids. No matter your skill level behind the camera, our exclusive training program will teach you how to capture beautiful, timeless portraits. Are you willing to be part of the best photography franchise available?
Q: I am already a professional photographer, can I still be part of the SRP family?
A: Of course, we wholeheartedly welcome current photographers who wish to channel their talents into producing high quality school portraiture. As a matter of fact, your current network and reputation as a photographer may serve you well in the establishment of a Spoiled Rotten Photography franchise in your community. Two of our franchise owners are PPA Certified Professional Photographers! They believe we are the best photography franchise available.
Q: What is the investment for a Spoiled Rotten Photography franchise?
A: The total investment required for a Spoiled Rotten franchise is extremely reasonable! Less than a new mid-sized sedan. The franchise fee is $25K and equipment package is $10K-$13K. This is a home based business! Build-out costs typically associated with a brick-and-mortar concept are not required. Fill out the request more information form and we will contact you with more information.
Q: Can I keep my current job and still successfully manage a Spoiled Rotten franchise?
A: It’s possible, but we encourage all SRP photographers to make the most of their investment by committing themselves to their photography business full-time. The more time you spend building your business, the greater your return. When first establishing the company, our founder, Melissa Tash was working as a Payload Crew Trainer for NASA’s International Space Station program. The response to Spoiled Rotten Photography by parents and schools in her area was so positive, she quickly surpassed her NASA paycheck and was able to turn her attention to growing Spoiled Rotten Photography full-time while raising a family.
Q: Can I work out of my home?
A: Most definitely. We are a home based business! The SRP mobile studio system has been specifically designed to allow our franchisees to work from home and spend more time with their families. There is no need for a brick-and-mortar studio. Field work is often required for photo sessions and calls on potential clients.
Q: Can I use photography equipment I already own?
A: That’s a distinct possibility – particularly if you are already a professional photographer in your own right. However, we have very specific and high standards for the equipment we use at Spoiled Rotten Photography in order to appropriately capture the images our clients have come to expect. You may use your existing equipment if it meets our standards. Our willingness to work with you is one more reason we are the best photography franchise available.
Q: What kind of training will I receive?
A: Each new franchise owner attends our 2 week new owner training course in Huntsville, AL. During this 2 weeks (11 days total training) you will train on all our processes and procedures to create and operate your business and also learn how to create beautiful timeless portraits. Topics include:
Operations, Exposure, Composition, Posing, Camera and Lighting Equipment Training, Critical Portrait Elements, Studio Lighting, Outdoor Lighting, Photography Session Operations, Post Processing, CRM Software Overview, Posing Guidelines, Kid Wrangling, Working with Directors, Customer Care, Time Standards, Customer Relationship Management, New Business Acquisition, Photoshop Fundamentals, Image Retouching, Order Fulfillment, Infant Posing and Lighting, Business Basics, Accounting and more!
Q: Do you have an annual conference?
A: We gather as a franchise family each year (usually in January). We feel very strongly about our family bonds, and this meeting strengthens our connection to each other as well as provides a time for us to learn new or strengthen our photography and business skills. One of our core values is advocacy — we seek ways to honor and lift up the marginalized. During our time together, we find a way to serve. For the last couple of years, we’ve visited homeless shelters and blessed the families with beautiful portraits of their children. We usually have our conference before the Professional Photographer’s of America’s “ImagingUSA” conference and we encourage our owners to attend this large industry conference as well. Read more about our last two SRP conferences HERE and HERE.
Q: I understand that a great deal of my training will be devoted to photography, but will you train me to find clients, as well?
A: Absolutely! We spend extensive time during training on client acquisition and retention. In addition, we will provide you with the marketing materials and public relations support you will need to successfully establish your Spoiled Rotten Photography business in your area.
Q: Once I’ve opened my franchise, what kind of on-going support will I receive from the corporate office?
A: At SRP, we consider ourselves a family of operators and act accordingly. We provide on-going training and support to every franchisee for the life of their franchise agreement. Our franchise owners also often enjoy sharing with one another what has worked well for their business in their respective territories. We have regular conference calls and an annual franchise conference. Click HERE to learn more about our latest conference. During our frequent (usually every 2 weeks) video calls, we cover a wide range of topics including sales, image reviews, posing, customer relations, and other owner-requested topics. We also have a very active owner Facebook group.
Q: How do I qualify to become a Spoiled Rotten franchise owner?
A: Nothing is more important to us than our core values. We believe you hold more value than what is contained in your bank statement. Therefore, we often approve our franchisees based on a number of different criteria – many of which are not related to finances, but instead to depth of character and level of commitment. If you become Spoiled Rotten, you’ll be a part of the best photography franchise available.
